My Views on Matwork, Via Facebook

I don't always chat on Facebook, but when I do, I talk about mat work ...

Here is one side of my Facebook conversation

Wrote a book with Jim Pedro, Sr. that will be out March 29th so that is awesome squared

===
About matwork. The title is Winning on the ground
========
It's for judo, grappling and mixed martial arts. One of our tenets though is that GOOD judo mat technicians beat everyone because they have to pull off a score in such a short period of time.
======
Of course, so many judo people SUCK at matwork
=========
Ha! I think the rules should change so if they do that drop and flop crap you should not only not get a shido against you, you should be allowed to KICK them.

I just looked, and it doesn't look like Amazon has it yet. Will your book be available on Amazon?

I'm ok with kicking them.

I looked on amazon too.. and then I read more carefully and low and behold a publication date of "March 29th" was in the text plain as day. Looking forward to it!

Its too bad its taking the publishers months to issue the book already written. I just don't get it. Any interested in releasing it e-book style? I've got an itchy download finger :-)

Kicking is going a bit far. Would it be ok if I just step on their back and strike a pose? ;)

Our book will be available March 29th, according to our publisher.

Standing on their back and striking a pose would only be acceptable if a photographer was standing by to snap a picture

Little OT, but I thought you would find this entertaining.
The person here not getting slammed and tapped is a junior judoplayer S. Ronkainen in his second mma fight:

The funny part is that his mother is European champion and a newaza specialist Jaana Ronkainen. I wonder is Saku was also woken up with jujigatame.

AnnMaria, I think there's a way to require people to log in to post. That might cut down on the spam.

There is a spam blocker application and it catches 99% of them. I wonder if it was down temporarily?

The young man's matwork in that video is pretty good, especially because he looks really young. I'm confused, though. Are they not allowed to punch? Because I think if he hit the guy in the face a few times, the opponent would have put his hands up to block and got arm barred sooner. Not being a smart ass, I really don't know the rules for junior MMA in Europe or even if the young man is a junior.

Im not sure about Europe but I know that in a lot of amature MMA organizations they only allow striking when you are standing.

This is continuation for the anon post on December 10, 2012 8:42 AM.
Sorry for the late answer.

I think Saku was 17 or 16 during the fight. I would guess it was so called B-rules so no striking on the ground.

Saku's mother Jaana was more or less pure newaza player. At one point likely the best in the world in her weight.

An impressive share! I have just forwarded this onto a colleague who was
conducting a little homework on this. And he in fact bought me lunch because I discovered it for him.
